Lacock Pottery was founded by Robert and Sheila Fournier who worked here from 1971 to 1987. In the late 1980s David McDowell took over the pottery and not only redeveloped the studio and the gallery but installed a reduction firing kiln in an outbuilding onsite.

Throughout the 1990s David & Simone ran residential pottery courses at Lacock Pottery, teaching hand-building and wheel-thrown techniques. These courses had been running since the early 1980s at their first studios just outside of Devizes in Wiltshire. Courses at Lacock Pottery gained an international reputation and featured guest tutors including David Lloyd-Jones and visits to see other makers including Mick & Sheila Casson.

Did you take part on a course with us at Lacock or Poulshot? If you we'd love to hear from you.
