Nick Pearce

Nick works just a few miles from Lacock, making salt-glazed ceramics. Influenced by contemporary potters such as Walter Keeler as well as past designers such as Walter Gropius and Christopher Dresser, Nick's works are thrown, moulded or extruded, altered and joined. The typical salt-glaze 'orange peel' surface texture comes from the addition of salt, or bicarbonate of soda, in the final firing. Nick uses various oxides and stains to colour his slips and glazes, and is currently working with a palette of black, blue and green, but he says he 'has plans for red and yellow!.'
